An elder statesman, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, on Tuesday asked Nigerians to feel free to advice and criticise the present administration in a responsible and constructive manner.
Sule gave the advice when
he spoke to State House correspondents shortly after meeting with the
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in his office.
He described the advent
of the administration as the ``dawn of a new era’’, and expressed optimism that
the administration would deliver on its promises.
``Tell them if they do wrong or if they go
wrong, support them if they do the right thing, but do it in a responsible and
constructive manner.
``That we shall do for we
have confidence in them. We don’t want them to fail and by the grace of God
they will not fail,’’ he said.
The motivational speaker
observed that the country was beset by two broad problems of insecurity at home
and bad image abroad.
``It is when you have
good leaders that we will be able to bring to an end the insecurity we have in
the country and the bad image we have abroad.
``Leaders with integrity
are the ones that can bring about change and we have in these two men of
integrity and I am confident that things should be what they should be.’’
The sage noted with
satisfaction that already the ``international community is giving Nigeria good
respect’’.
``And I think the
president has established that reputation as a military leader, a reputation of
instilling discipline into the society, raising the current tone of the society
and fighting corruption.
Sule recalled that at the time Buhari was a
military leader he gave Nigeria sense of direction, adding that he saw in the
president and his vice a team that would repeat the feat
