P&G Vice-Chairman Inaugurates NHPIL's Safeguard Soap Plant


The Managing Director, Procter and Gamble (P&G) Nigeria, Manoj Kumar and Dimitri Panayotopoulos, Vice Chair, Procter & Gamble (P&G) Global Business recently inaugurated a factory for the Manufacture of P&G’s Safeguard antibacterial soap at New Home Products Industries Limited (NHPIL) Plant, Matori during a recent visit to Lagos by the Vice Chair in November 2011.



This inauguration comes on the heels of P&G Nigeria’s partnership with New Home Products industries Limited (NHPIL) to manufacture P&G’s Safeguard antibacterial soap at the NHPIL factory developed for this purpose.

This partnership is part of Procter and Gamble’s long term investment plan in Nigeria. NHIPL’s manufacturing plant for Safeguard antibacterial soap is a world class facility that is enabling the leading global brand to reach consumers here in Nigeria and has already generated 70 new jobs with several more expected indirectly through suppliers and distributors.



At the inauguration event, the Managing Director of NHPIL, Mr. Deepak Kacher indicated his interest in a heightened level of collaboration between the two companies. “We are looking forward to taking our partnership with P&G from good to great.” Mr. Kacher said.



Since its establishment in Nigeria, P&G has invested billions of naira in capital projects including its plant in Ibadan, Oyo State. More than 85 per cent of the P&G products sold in Nigeria are manufactured in the country. The multinational firm is poised to further expand its investments in Nigeria, increase its production capacity while introducing latest product technology and new products. P&G Nigeria serves as the business hub for the entire West and Central Africa as the company expands across the region.



NHIPL is part of the Chanrai Summit Group, a multinational company that has been in Nigeria since 1890. The company also has operations in Ghana, Dubai, Spain, Singapore, India and UK.

  1. Looking at this article brings back the greatest memories as we worked with Deepak Kacher and the NHPIL team to startup Safeguard bar soap making. I pray that all are well and thriving!
