President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja condemned the latest wave of killings by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno, describing them as most inhuman and barbaric.
This is contained in a statement issued by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Garba Shehu.
According to the statement, Buhari considers the murder by the terrorists of up to 150 innocent men, women and children in Kukawa a very heinous atrocity which must be unreservedly condemned by all people of conscience.
``The President believes that these last desperate acts of fleeing agents of terrorism underscore the urgent need to bring to early fruition the efforts of his government to form a more effective international coalition against insurgency and terrorism in Nigeria and neighbouring countries,’’ it further stated.
Buhari, therefore, urged Muslims in Nigeria and across the world to reject with one voice the attackers claim to be acting in the name of Islam, and tell the terrorists to stop the abasement of their religion.
The President expressed his heart-felt condolences to the families of the victims of Boko Haram's dreadful killings across the state.
