Code of Conduct Bureau have no power to make Buhari’s assets public, Chairman insist

The Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Sam Saba, has said the bureau has no legal powers to publicise assets declared by public officers.

Speaking to the Newsmen on Tuesday, Saba said the mandate of the bureau was to ensure that the assets are declared and verified.

He said the bureau has no power to make public details of President Muhammadu Buhari’s assets.
“We do not have power to make the assets declared by the president public,” he said.

He however recalled that the president had assured Nigerians that he would make the declaration public later.

“The president has in a statement through his media aide said he will make his submissions public after the bureau has verified within his first 100 days in office,” he said.

Buhari has yet to declare his assets publicly as he pledged while campaigning for office.
